SHOW ME HOW YOU BURLESQUE

I love the movie with Cher and Christina Aguilera, "Burlesque."  The story line is predictable:  small town girl moves to big city finds love, fame and fortune.  But, what is amazine is the signing. 

Cher only has two numbers, which is a pity because she is an amazing performer.  We need to see more of her.  (The acting is not too bad.)

The movie is really Christina's vehicle.  She is clearly the star.  All the numbers are practically hers, but it's hard to be upset over that because the girl CAN sing!!

The costumes are terrific and sexy.  I wouldn't necessarily wear any of them to seduce my man but there are parts of those costumes that look like fun -- the thigh highs for one.

This movie has gotten me curious over Burlesque as an art form.  Will let you know what I find out.

MONDAY ARSENAL... PUSH-UP BRA

 
The Push-up Bra has its origins in the 15th and 16th centuries, when prominent breasts came into style.  Women's corsets literally "pushed up" the breasts to emphasis roundness and fullness.  An emphasis that is still very popular today.

To give you a brief history, the first bra patent was submitted in 1914 by Mary Phelps Jacobs who hated her corset.  Yet, it wasn't until the 1960s that Canadian inventor Louise Poirier introduced the Wonderbra. And viola -- comfort and cleavage.

The Wonderbra has inspired many imitations and gathered many more followers of both sexes.  No wonder it's considered the 5th greatest Canadian invention of its time.

 

REPENT!

Now that the party is over, it's time to repent.

Jews repent for one day.  For one day, they give up everything -- eating, socializing, etc.

Catholics are bigger sinners so we have to repent for 40 days.   Supposedly to symbolize the 40 days (months?) that Moses was lost in the desert.   I'm gonna have to brush up on my Catholism again.

The length of the skirt is important when you wear these.  A short skirt let's men know that you are ready to get it on.  You are ready and in control.   A longer skirt -- with a long slit in the back, of course -- let's men know that they have to work at capturing your attention.  And, if they are worthy....oh, la la.

Jane Russell is best known for her iconic role, alongside Marilyn Monroe, in "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes."

Marilyn may have been the most popular but Jane was no slouch.  She was a full figured beauty and proud of it.  Jane left Hollywood at the age of 30 because she felt that the best parts were only going to young actresses.  No matter.  Jane was not forgotten.  And, she is still the embodiment of sexy.
